Michigan basketball’s 2015-16 team might be the deepest John Beilein has had in his tenure as head coach. His teams have traditionally been young, and the past 2-3 years especially have had a lot of attrition.

The 2013-14 team had to deal with the exits of Trey Burke and Tim Hardaway Jr. The next year was even worse, with Nik Stauskas, Glenn Robinson III and Mitch McGary going pro, Jordan Morgan graduating and Jon Horford transferring to Florida.

This year Michigan doesn’t have that problem. This year the Wolverines boast so much depth that it might be difficult to get minutes for guys who saw the court last year.

This is especially evident at the wings. Michigan’s biggest stars, Derrick Walton and Caris LeVert, are playing at the one and two, but the team has its most potential in the three and four spots. There are tons of different lineups for Beilein to play with, and some might get the short end of the stick. That will be especially true if Beilein runs a three-guard lineup with Walton, LeVert and Spike Albrecht.

The primary focuses here will be Zak Irvin, Kam Chatman, Aubrey Dawkins and Duncan Robinson.

D.J. Wilson and Moritz Wagner are two others who could vie for minutes at the four, but since they can also play in the middle we will be covering them with the bigs.
