“24 and 1”

Michigan kicker K.C. Lopata missed a 26-yard field goal with four seconds to play, giving Toledo a 13-10 win over the Wolverines. Michigan was 24-0 against MAC opponents before this loss.

Losing to Toledo ended up being the worst loss within the worst season of Michigan history, and had it taken place later in the season, there’s no way it would be considered a heartbreaker. But with a 2-3 record at that point, the season wasn’t quite lost, and a game against Toledo was sure to get the Wolverines back on track.

After the game, first-year Michigan coach Rich Rodriguez was blunt with his comments.

“I’m just extremely disappointed and embarrassed,” Rodriguez said.

Yeah, everyone was.

Toledo’s win over Michigan gave the Wolverines their worst start to a season in 41 years.

Relive it, if you dare.
