Michigan Basketball: Top 5 Michigan NCAA Tournament Runs
By David Cuff
1. 1989 Tournament-
The 1989 Michigan basketball team was the only team in school history to win a National Title for the basketball program. Bill Frieder was the Michigan head coach for the regular season but was famously fired by then AD Bo Schembechler after he stated he would be leaving the school for another job after the season. He was replaced by assistant Steve Fisher and the three seeded Wolverines had their best tournament run ever. Glen Rice was the teams best player but had help from the likes of Rumeal Robinson, Loy Vaught, Terry Mills, and Sean Higgins. They defeated Seton Hall 80-79 in overtime of the National Championship game.
