#5 Ohio State (13-18-3)
The Buckeyes are slowing improving- yet not enough to keep pace with the teams above them. They have offensive bite (25th ranked offense) but also give up goals in buckets both 5×5 and on the penalty kill where they rank at the bottom of the NCAA along with Wisconsin. They are 6-3-1 in their last ten games, though.

Senior Tanner Fritz (11-15-26) paces the offense with help from junior Anthony Greco (15-8-23) and All Freshman Team forward Matt Weis (8-14-22). The Buckeyes’ netminding is shared between a pair of sophomores: Christian Frey (8-11-2, 3.17 GAA and .906 save %) and Matt Tomkins (5-7-1, 3.28 GAA and .876 save %.) Frey has had his moments, but neither will threaten to steal games. The Buckeyes claimed wins this season over Minnesota and Michigan in the latter half of the season, so looking past the offensive minded Buckeyes will be a mistake. They took a similar seeding last season to the B1G Ten Championship game (upsetting home #1 seed Minnesota) before falling to #2 seed Wisconsin in overtime.
Ex-factors: Playing the underdog in a game where not many fans will be in attendance is just perfect for the Buckeyes. They have PSU’s number this season and the game should provide for a back and forth offensive showing. Still, the Buckeyes in general fall victim to their defense in most cases, so few expect them to move on. If they do, though, they may give Minnesota a better overall game than Penn State proved last weekend.
