Michigan Wolverine Recruiting: Harbaugh offers UCLA Commit William Lockett

William Lockett, a 2015 commit for the UCLA Bruins received an offer from Jim Harbaugh and the Michigan Wolverines. He has only taking two official visits so far with UCLA back in August, and then Oklahoma in November. So he has three more visits that he can use if he wants and probably one reason why Jim Harbaugh and staff is going after Lockett since he has shown he will look around and that he has visits left.

Lockett is from Manvel, Texas who plays for Manvel high school. He is 5’11, 185lbs, and most recruiting services has him as a high 3-star recruiting prospect who plays defensive back, but mainly cornerback.

Jim Harbaugh is showing that stars from recruiting sites don’t matter and willing to go after who they believe is deserving of an offer along with somebody that they possible can bring in for a visit to try and sell the Michigan program to those prospects that are looking around or still interested in Michigan.

Lockett has over fifteen offers and likely would of had more if he didn’t commit so early to UCLA and Jim Mora back in August of 2014. He had offers from Maryland, Michigan State, Missouri, Oklahoma, Rutgers, Purdue, with some other smaller schools. Don’t be alarmed if you don’t see the big-time programs in Texas not offering because usually they will not offer a recruit if he commits elsewhere because they feel if they offer the recruit than the fan-base can say they lost him.

Bio

Height: 5’11

Weight: 185

Position: Defensive Back (CB)

Ranking: 3-star

The 2016 recruiting class will be a lot bigger than the previous couple years of recruiting at Michigan which will be a good thing for Jim Harbaugh and staff to start bringing in their own players that they want to build around this Michigan program.

The coaches have already started the 2016 recruiting class coming out early and offering several recruits that they believe will help the Michigan program. Some might not be the elite level ranked by the recruiting sites, but as we have seen in the past they have been wrong many times before and these coaches have shown that they can make a 3-star into a NFL player.
