He has already visited USC on 11/28/2104, Georgia on 12/12/2014 and seemingly already has said that USC is out of it. Georgia being the home-state seems to be the favorite. Michigan will get their shot on 1/16/2015, Arizona State on 1/23/2015, and UCLA on 1/29/2015. Before the Michigan visit was set-up he had LSU and Ole Miss on his visit list, but that changed.
He wasn’t on Michigan’s radar or was considering Michigan before Jim Harbaugh was named coach at Michigan, but when Harbaugh was announced along with the rumors of DJ Durkin possibly be part of Harbaugh’s coaching staff.
Well Harbaugh still hasn’t announced any coaches yet for his staff, but several coaches have arrived on campus, signed up on the directory at Michigan and have been calling recruits for Michigan.

Smith had Florida at a high interest, but with Durkin leaving there and going to Michigan things have changed. Durkin and Smith had a good relationship and have been said was probably the biggest threat to land Smith vs. Georgia. How will the weather be and also the relationship he has with Durkin help bring him to Ann Arbor will be interesting to see how this plays out. This visit could be huge and getting Michigan into the south along with showing how good of recruiters Michigan has on staff with only a short time to catch up to other schools that have been recruiting players for over a year.
We have talked about Michigan getting faster and more athletic at the linebacker position. This would be one of those recruits that would help that tremendously. Right now, he is undersized, but has the tools along with ability to become a very good linebacker at the college level.
It looks like the January 16th weekend could be a big weekend for recruiting so let’s hope the weather is a lot better than currently especially for these southern recruits.
Here is his 2013 Junior year highlights:
