Amara Darboh WR, 6-2, 214, RS SO, Des Moines Dowling Catholic (Iowa)

The No. 1 prospect from the state of Iowa, Amara Darboh was expected to someday become Michigan’s No. 1 receiver. A 6-2 speedster Darboh played sparingly his freshman year but was due to be a starter in 2013.

But that’s been delayed until maybe this fall, because a surgically repaired foot injury has kept him on the sidelines since last August.

Darboh should be 100% in the fall, so he should get a legitimate shot despite the depth chart being loaded.

Missing from the receiving corps is Jeremy Gallon, who caught 89 passes and will be sorely missed. The leading returning receiver is Devin Funchess, who played a hybrid tight end/receiver spot and caught 49 passes including six for touchdowns. Next on the depth cart is Jehu Chesson, who caught 15 passes in 2013 but is by no means guaranteed a starting position.

“I think he was someone we really missed,” receivers coach Jeff Hecklinski told rivals.com. “I can see him having a major impact as he starts coming back from his injury.”

That’s not to say that Drake Harris, Freddy Canteen, Csont’e York and Da’Mario Jones won’t muddle the picture.
