Michigan Football Recruiting: Fax Machine is On and Coaches Are Ready
Michigan football coaches will be sitting in their meeting room waiting for the faxes to start rolling in this morning. This shouldn’t be a big surprising day since most of the 2014 recruits are already on campus with seven already enrolled or have been committed for some time.
Will there be any last minute surprises like two years ago where Michigan offered 2012 recruit Dennis Norfleet who switched his commitment from Cincinnati at the last minute to sing with Michigan. Even last years 2013 recruiting class there wasn’t much excitement leading up to signing day besides Derrick Green announcing a week before signing day.
The biggest surprise will be Malik McDowell when he announces his decision today at 10:00am and where he will end up? The way it is looking it probably won’t be Michigan which seems to be his parents favorite by the way, but they are one of the four teams remaining which include Michigan State (which seems Malik might favor), Ohio State (could get him by default), and Florida State (think is to far away for parents to see him enough). For recruiting followers this is sorta like Christmas, but you already know the presents, but still waiting for you to unwrap them from under the tree.
Come back and see if any surprises happen throughout the day and keep tabs on our message board and our chat room as well.
Reminder Michigan is having a two-and-a-half hour Signing Day webcast live from Schembechler Hall this morning, beginning at 6:30 am.
The Inside Michigan Football Signing Day Special will be hosted by Michigan football radio sideline reporter Doug Karsch and former Michigan safety Marcus Ray, and will be streamed free of charge on MGoBlue.com.
The show will include behind-the-scenes access, video highlight packages and biographical information on U-M’s 2014 signees, as well as interviews with select Michigan players and coaches. Live cameras will give viewers the opportunity to see inside the facility as coaches and administrators gather to process the National Letters of Intent as they come off the fax machine.
Also later on today, Michigan head coach Brady Hoke will hold a 2:00 pm. press conference to discuss the newest additions to the Wolverine football program. MGoBlue.com will stream the press conference live and an archive will be available shortly after the event.
In addition to MGoBlue.com, fans can follow Signing Day updates through Michigan Athletics’ official Twitter account @umichfootball, and join the Signing Day conversation by using hashtag #UMSigningDay.
Fans can still sign up to receiver text messages of when the letters of intent arrive from Michigan commits. You can text SIGN to 54815 to receive official up-to-the-minute Signing Day mobile alerts. Message and data rates may apply.
