GBMWolverine: Game Predictions and Commentary: Penn State

With two weeks to prepare and get healthy Michigan should overwhelm an injured and out-manned Penn State team. This is a true must win game.

Michigan 42 — Penn State 21

Is this a must win game for Michigan? Yes, I believe so for several reasons, but still wasn’t as important as the Michigan State game. It will make them bowl eligible something that has been lacking in Ann Arbor for a couple of years. This team needs confidence going into the Illinois game especially coming back home in front of the home crowd.

Two weeks to prepare along with getting the players healthy came at a critical time especially after losing two weeks in a row to Michigan State and Iowa.

With five games left and the problems Penn State has had this year offensively along with all the injuries this should be one of the easier games left on their schedule besides Purdue.

Believe offensively Denard will be able to do what he wants against this defense who has had injuries throughout the season and are starting to get some/most of their players back, but are they ready to play or be prepared for a player like Denard.

Michigan still needs to get the running backs involved and this might be a good game to see more of Hopkins. Think he brings a added toughness that has been missing with this offense.

Defensively if we cannot stop a struggling Penn State offense along with the added walk-on quarterback starting his first game we will struggle the rest of the year because I believe Penn State has the worst offense that we will face the rest of the year especially missing their starting quarterback.

Think the game will be close early on, but in the second half Michigan pulls away (or I hope they do) and the players, fans, alumni, etc… Feel a little bit better about this team before Illinois comes to town which is going to be a lot bigger game for Michigan and Coach Rod though before the season got underway.

Honestly, don’t even want to think about what would happen if Michigan would lose this game.

Michigan 42 — Penn State 17.

In the 2nd half game will be even more of a blow out than score indicates.

This is a perfect match-up for UM. A very slow—struggling offense and a defense that has some injuries and is not physical.

Defensively–expect to see more snaps from Black–Demens at LB, and depending on this week in practice—some snaps for Vinapol.

Offensively—-not alot of changes—-except Hopkins continues to get more snaps.

Michigan 38 — Penn State 20

Picking us to lose — so we win. If we lose this game we may not win another game this season.

Michigan 27 — Penn State 31

For some reason I think that this will be Michigan’s best Big Ten game of the season. Maybe because the Wolverines hold some type of hex over Penn State, save last year’s result.

Denard will get back on track against a decimated defense, and the Michigan defenders will hold their own against a depleted offense.
