Overview:
Overview of Tony Posada-

Tackle- Plant Senior High School-Tampa Area, Florida
Offensive Tackle

Tony Posada ended about a month long semi-suspense by committing to Michigan. He is by consensus a 3 star prospect. But beware when using stars for offensive linemen because things can change fast.

That is why historically big programs take many linemen and know that the reality is some will take off and leave the other line recruits behind.

Tony is an absolute mountain and is a high school RT. GBMWolverine believes Tony could also play either OG position.

Tony plays for a top Florida program (Plant Senior) that has produced a number of D1 players. Plant has won several Florida championships in the past five years and is rated by many as a top five high school team in the US of A. The team is loaded with talent, so much so that Tony is actually a little under the radar. James Wilder Jr. is one of the top-rated players in America, and Phillip Ely, another top recruit, announced (at the same time Tony committed) for Alabama.

The Head Coach at Plant (Rob Weiner) has stated Tony is an upside type of player, one that is cerebral and always learning. Plant has academic credentials that are outstanding, so it is no surprise that Tony’s GPA appears to demonstrate very good academic ability. Tony states he likes playing in the spread and understands the underlying concepts of the offensive structure.

As with many young recruits, the Ann Arbor area, both city and campus, wowed Tony. One of Michigan’s greatest recruiting assets is to get a recruit on campus and let the magic of one of America’s great mid-sized cities take effect. It appears Tony will pursue studies in a professional area to be determined.

Coach Frey seemed to be a very positive factor in Tony’s decision and the lure of getting out of Florida’s summer heat was mentioned. Now we will all see how Tony likes the Midwest on, say, January 20.

Tony is listed in the 6’5 to 6’6 area and weighs well over 300 pounds. Conditioning will obviously play a part in Tony’s career success, but his coach states Tony is a worker and willing to get the gob done.

Strengths:
Tony plays a physical overpowering game and when he locks onto a defender he can be overwhelming. His handwork is ok but can improve. He has a solid get off and film shows the ability to bend his knees and gain leverage. Film also shows Tony’s ability to move his feet, pull and lead, and get to 2nd level. Pass pro is ok, but needs some work.

Needs work:
Tony’s footwork and overall technique are works in progress. He will also needs some work on zoning. As stated the biggest area of concern is his weight and overall conditioning.
