The 2015 Michigan football schedule is going to be a challenging one for the Wolverines. Jim Harbaugh has his hands full, but he will be up for the challenge. They will get tested right away when they open up the season at Utah and that game will be a good bench mark to see where Michigan is at.

Of the four non-conference games for Michigan only one of them is a cupcake. The game against Utah to open up the season is the toughest of the four. Going on the road to face a team that went 9-4 last year in a solid Pac 12 conference is no easy task. They follow that up with three straight home games, starting against Oregon State. The Beavers weren’t great last year going just 5-7 but they have a new head coach and some solid talent on the roster. UNLV is the one easy game for Michigan. They are coming off of a 2-11 season. The non-conference schedule finishes up against a BYU team that went 8-5 last season.
Michigan starts out Big Ten play with a couple very winnable games at Maryland and at home against Northwestern. Then comes one of their toughest Big Ten tests at home against Michigan State. MSU has won 6 of the last 7 contests between the rivals and Michigan was blown out in the last two games. Michigan has a bye week after the MSU game before playing three of their next four on the road. They play at Minnesota, home against Rutgers, at Indiana, and at Penn State. It’s a tough stretch but Michigan should be favored in at least three of those games. They close out the season at home against rival Ohio State. It will be the first of many match ups between Harbaugh and Urban Meyer. Michigan has lost 10 of 11 against OSU including three straight. It would be a huge statement win for Michigan to end the regular season.

This is definitely one of the toughest schedules Michigan has had in a while and it will give fans an early look at the Harbaugh effect. Michigan is looking to turn things around quickly and expectations will be high. Whether it’s fair or not there will be a lot of naysayers if the 2015 season doesn’t go well. I for one see 2015 as the season that starts the turnaround of the Michigan football program.
