Michigan Football: Around the Big Ten Conference — 11/2/2013

This week every Big Ten team is in action. Last week there was four teams with bye weeks. This week will start separating the contenders from the pretenders and also getting teams ready for the next five weeks of the regular season and the Big Ten conference. Who steps up and who goes home could decide who might actually have a chance to make it to Lucas Oil Stadium in the Legends division today. Ohio State is clearly the favorite for the leaders division with beating Wisconsin so they look to be in the Championship game already especially knowing that they have a 2 game advantage basically over the Badgers since they beat them so they would hold the tie breaker if they would lose a game. The rest of the division is 2-10 with PSU, Indiana, Illinois, and Purdue.

Wisconsin at Iowa:

Wisconsin coming off a bye week looks to be ready for this game. Iowa beating Northwestern last week look to take down the badgers. Who wins? Wisconsin.

Think Wisconsin is the better team simply. Yea we all saw Iowa play well at Ohio State a few weeks ago, but don’t think they can do it for a entire game against a very good opponent.

Wisconsin will run, run, and run some more on this Iowa defense.

Michigan at Michigan State:

Check our previews that we did all week long as well as our predictions for this game.

We are divided as a staff for this game.

Weather and also playing at Spartan Stadium come into effect for this game today.

Minnesota at Indiana:

Can the gophers handle success? They have been playing quite better the last several weeks especially last weekend taking care of the cornhuskers. This isn’t the same Indiana team we have seen in years past. Don’t think Minnesota can handle the uptempo game that Indiana. Think Indiana makes this statement that they are a team on the rise and are making their trek towards the middle of the conference.

Northwestern at Nebraska:

Can you say both teams badly need this game? The wildcats are 0-4 in conference and the cornhuskers came off a bad loss against Minnesota last weekend. The cornhuskers still have a chance for the division, but needs a lot of help and a lot of things to go their way. The wildcats are in a spoiler roll right now and can only turn things interesting from here on out. Look for both teams come out to play today, but think Nebraska playing in front of their home crowd carries them to the win. They need it because their coach just might be on the hot seat now, but if he loses this game it might be so hot that he will most likely not even finish the season which includes the bowl game.

Illinois at Penn State:

As we mentioned before about Penn State they are a different team at home vs. on the road. Illinois isn’t that good of team. Look for PSU to win this game in a big way. Illinois is struggling to find a identity along with the direction of their program. This could be a huge year on the direction either way it goes and right now it isn’t looking very bright. They are becoming one of the bottom feeders in the conference instead of the once in awhile contending middle of the road Big Ten teams.

Ohio State at Purdue:

This is another warm-up game for the buckeyes as they prepare themselves for the last two games of the year between Indiana and of course Michigan. The buckeyes have basically three weeks off until they play a team with a pulse. They have Purdue today, a bye week next week, and then Illinois. They might have a tougher time next week in the bye week keeping their players entertained and not getting into trouble then playing these next couple of games.
