Michigan Football: Wolverine Commit Stats Week Four — 9/23/13

Week four is in the books for most of  the Wolverine 2014 and 2015 football commits.  2015 commit CB Sean Crawford had an excellent game in all areas, and 2014 QB Wilton Speight has almost made the century mark in passing in only three games.

Middle linebacker Michael Ferns‘ team St. Clairsville High School remain undefeated at 4-0 after an away game @ Martins Ferry (Martins Ferry, OH)  winning the game 35-14.  No stats were available for Mike.  Mike has three receptions for 48 yards (16 ypc) and two TDs, 118 yards on 20 carries (5.9 ypc), no defensive stats available for the season..

Quarterback Wilton Speight is 3-0 in his 2013 campaign .  The Collegiate School defeated Flint Hill (Oakton, VA) 30-7.  Wilton went 17 completions on 33 attempts (51.5%) for 260 yards,  and 3 TDs.  Speight’s numbers for the season are 49 of 101 (48.5%) passing for 857 yards (17.5 yds avg) and 10 TDs, 57 yards rushing, and one interception.

Defensive tackle  Bryan Mone and Highland High School suffered their second loss of the season and are now 3-2 following a defeat @ East (Salt Lake City, UT) by a score of 29-7.  Mone had 5 tackles; his season stats include 13 tackles, 2 TFL, and 3 sacks.

2014 and 2015 teammate Michigan commits OT Mason Cole, WR George Campbell, and the East Lake High School  continued their season dominance and are 4-0 after winning @ Clearwater (Clearwater, FL) 61-16. There are no stats for Cole, Campbell had a TD reception , and has 7 reception for approximately 200 yards(28.6 ypc) and 3 TDs, 9 tackles and 5 sacks on defense for the season.

WR Drake Harris is still out with an injury but should return next week, and according to the game article his coach is tired of fielding Harris questions.    Grand Rapids Christian High School won @Hudsonville (Hudsonville, MI) by a score of 34-7, and improved to 3-1.

TE Ian Bunting and his Hinsdale Central High School bested Proviso West (Hillside, IL) at home 31-0, and are now 3-1. Ian tallied a sack on defense, his season stats are 3 receptions for 17 yards (5.7 ypc), one sack,  and a TFL.

Detroit Country Day School and WR commit Maurice Ways walloped Pershing (Detroit, MI) 42-0 to score their first victory, and are now 1-3 on the season.  There is absolutely nothing on this game besides a MAXPREPS score.  On the season Maurice has made 14 catches for 293 yards (20.9 ypc), and two TDs in total.

Southfield High School DE commit Lawrence Marshall had 4 TFLs and a fumble recovery in a 3-1 season improving victory @ Oak Park (Oak Park, MI) with a final score of 20-12. Lawrence has 11 tackles, a forced fumble, 4 sacks, 4TFLs, a fumble recovery, and a safety for the season.

2014 Paramus Catholic High School teammates OT Juwan Bushell-Beatty and CB Jabrill Peppers defeated DePaul (Wayne, NJ) 35-21 to go a perfect 3-0 on the season.  Juwan still has no stats available; Peppers continues to lay bone jarring hits and in the game he had TD reception, 1 tackle, and a pick six. On the year Jabril has recorded 213 yards rushing on 19 attempts (11.2 ypc) three TDs, a tackle, two receiving TDs and a pick six.

Linebacker Chase Winovich and  Thomas Jefferson High School are 4-0  after the defeat of Trinity (Washington, PA) 44-7.  Chase registered a sack on defense, and for the season
pass of 6 yards. No D stats were available but the team limited Hollidaysburg to 28 yards on the ground and 121 yards in total offense.  Winovich has 16 tackles, three sacks, 1 TFL, a fumble recovery, a forced fumble, five rushing scores, and two TD passes.

Duo 2014 commits Corner Brandon Watson, and WR Freddy Canteen and Eastern Christian Academy 3-1 were idle this week, and return to action @ Maplewood (Nashville, TN) on the 27th of September.  On the season Canteen has four TD receptions, and Watson 14 tackles, 2 interceptions, and fumble return TD.

Kenton High School Outside Backer commit Noah Furbush tallied a 32-0 win Van Wert (Van Wert, OH) to remain perfect at 4-0.  Furbush one TFL and a safety.  For the season Noah has 19 tackles, including 8 tackles for loss, four sacks, and a safety.

2104 OLB commit Jared Wangler‘s De La Salle Collegiate High School  lost again this time @ Brother Rice (Bloomfield Hills, MI), they are now 1-3 after dropping the game 26-24 via a heroic Hail Mary by 2015 UM QB Prospect Alex Malzone.  Wangler had 6 receptions 95 yards (15.8 ypc), on the season Jared has 13 tackles, including two for a loss, and a sack; and nine receptions for 123 yards (13.2 ypc).

Barron Collier High School and potential grayshirt 2014/15 DT commit Brady Pallante lost their first game of the year 26-3 versus Immokalee (Immokalee, FL) and are now 2-1.  There were no stats available, Brady has 12 tackles, including two for a loss for the season.

Washington Massillon High School and Michigan 2015 Kicker commit Andrew David remain a perfect 4-0 having defeated Lake Catholic (Mentor, OH) 35-6.  David made 2 punts for 86 yards (43.0 avg), 6 kickoffs for 337 (56.2 avg), and 3 of 4 PATs. He played one game at QB and went 7-of-10 passing for 59 yards, including a 20-yard touchdown pass; 1 of 4 field goal attempts (25.0 percent), with a 20-yard long, and 10 punts for 377 yards (37.7 avg), 15 kickoffs for 859 (57.3 avg), 12 made PATS (1 blocked and 1 missed).

2015 OT commit Jon Runyan Jr. and the 2-1 St. Joseph’s Prep School were in a bye this week and return to action on the 28th of September against Roman Catholic (Philadelphia, PA). No stats game or season have been found for Runyan.

2015 running back commit Damien Harris and Madison Southern High School were also idle this week.  They will take their 4-0 record to a game @ South Laurel (London, KY) on the 27th of September. On the season he has 791 yards on 66 carries (11.9 ypc) with 13 rushing TDs, and a 60-yard TD on a kickoff return; blocked PAT on special teams.

2015 corner Shaun Crawford and Saint Edward High School in a defeat of Elder (Cincinnati, OH) 48-7 are also a perfect 4-0. Crawford had a huge game providing a 63-yard punt return TD, 124 rushing yards and 2 TDs, and two receptions for 31 yards. On the season he has 165 yards rushing and 2 TDs, 55 yards receiving, a blocked punt, a blocked PAT, and a 63 yard punt return TD.

2015 Safety commit Tyree Kinnel and Wayne High School went to 3-1 with a win over Xenia (Xenia, OH) 49-20 .  There were no stats available for the game, Kinnel has 15 tackles on the season.
