Yaxel Lendeborg's first and only trip to the Final Four started off with two fouls in the first 90 seconds, but after a long stint on the bench in the first half, it went from bad to worse. With his Wolverines ahead 26-14 with 8:51 remaining in the half, the Big Ten Player of the Year drove the lane, got fouled, and stepped awkwardly on the outside of Arizona center Motiejus Krivas's foot. Lendeborg rolled his ankle and, after making both free throws, went back to the Michigan locker room.
Lendeborg was in noticeable pain after rolling his ankle, slapping the floor, and walking the length of the court before settling in at the free-throw line. However, quickly after he was removed from the game, CBS's Tracy Wolfson reported that he was heading to the locker room for ice and to get his ankle retaped before returning to the game.
