When it comes to making record predictions for the 2025 college football season, Michigan football might be one of the more difficult teams to forecast.

The Wolverines lost potentially four first-round picks in the 2025 NFL draft. U-M lost at least four players on defense that will play in the league, plus Kalel Mullings, Donovan Edwards, Myles Hinton, and Colston Loveland.

That's a lot of talent to replace. However, Michigan football is still loaded on defense. Rayshaun Benny and Derrick Moore could be first-round picks next season. T.J. Guy is another stud. Jaishawn Barham, too. Frankly, the entire defense is stacked at all three levels.

Michigan football seems a little light at cornerback, however, some of the young guys have really emerged. Jyaire Hill has had a strong spring, too.

The wildcard is Bryce Underwood. The five-star quarterback is expected to be the Week 1 starter. The 6-foot-4 quarterback has wowed Michigan football players and coaches this spring. All signs are pointing to him being the starter.

Urban Meyer, the former head coach of Ohio State, knows a thing or two about winning games in the Big Ten. He works as an analyst for Fox Sports and weighed in on how many games the Wolverines can win this season.

“I think they’re (an) eight or nine-win team. So, Vegas is right on looking at that schedule,” Meyer said on The Triple Option podcast. “So, I’m gonna go nine wins. I’m gonna say that they’re going to play good defense and let the quarterback develop.”

Meyer was asked how many games he thought Michigan football would win in 2025. 9-3 seems reasonable to me. Making the playoff might hinge on whether the Wolverines beat Ohio State or not.

The offensive line and receivers will need to be better than expected to make the playoff but that was the case back in 2021, so you never know.
