Two days before the start of the Sweet 16, the North Carolina Tar Heels dropped a bombshell on the coaching world that they would be moving on from Hubert Davis.
It wasn't the biggest shock in the world. North Carolina, which was seeded sixth going into the NCAA Tournament, was upset in the first round by VCU. It was the latest in a series of ups and downs for the Tar Heels under Davis, although they did reach the national title game in his first season.
Regardless, one of the biggest jobs in college basketball, right up there with Duke, Kentucky, and Kansas, which could be open soon, too, North Carolina is an elite job. It's a place where you can win national championships, and have the resources to compete for them.
With any job of that magnitude, big names are going to be connected to it. That's no different with Dusty May, the Michigan basketball head coach. Matt Norlander of CBS Sports has already connected May to the Tar Heels along with a bunch of other home-run candidates.

It would be silly not to. May is coaching a 33-3 team. He's the Big Ten Coach of the Year. He would do a great job.,
Tar Heels shouldn't waste their time considering Dusty May as a head coach candidate
May seems to love Michigan basketball. The Wolverines have a legitimate shot to win the national championship, and they only have two seniors in their starting lineup. If May can convince Aday Mara and Morez Johnson to return next season, the Wolverines could be a national title contender again.
May also has all the resources he needs to win a national title in Ann Arbor. You can never say never, but UNC would do better to focus on other candidates.
