Michigan football head coach Sherrone Moore made a good point after the Wolverines' 21-16 win over Purdue.
The Wolverines are 7-2. Things haven't been perfect. The past two weeks have been an adventure. However, after an 18-point loss to USC last month, Michigan football has won three in a row.
A bye week is on tap before a matchup with Northwestern, currently 5-3. Moore said that the bye week was coming "at a good time."
He's not wrong. The Michigan football head coach is also right about another point he made on Saturday night. Every goal is still on the table for the Wolverines.
"At the end of the day, we're 7-2, and we're in a position to do everything we want to accomplish," Moore said via Zach Shaw of 247 Sports.
Michigan's Sherrone Moore has a half-glass full perspective
Michigan needs to play better. It has to find a way to be more consistent. The Wolverines are also a young team that was down six preferred starters, plus some other key players. There are plenty of college football teams that didn't find a way on Saturday.
Michigan did. That's something. Jordan Marshall and the offensive line are also something to feel good about. U-M fans weren't lying when they said the Wolverines might have the best running back tandem in the Big Ten.
Michigan is 5-1 in the Big Ten. They have had at 175 rushing yards in all five wins. The defense hasn't allowed more than 20 points since a disaster at USC, and even though his team is full of warts, it doesn't really matter.
The Wolverines have a lot to play for in the last three games. That itself is an accomplishment. Now they just need to figure out how to close the season strong, like they have done each of the past four years.
