Michigan football dominated Nebraska in the trenches on Saturday. The Wolverines had seven sacks, which should have been eight, as well as 10 tackles for loss and over 30 quarterback pressures.
It was an incredible effort. The defensive line, as well as the offensive line, which helped Michigan run for 286 yards, was responsible for winning the game. Sherrone Moore had to be proud.
The Michigan football head coach met with the media on Monday and said it "felt good" to be back. Moore offered quite a few interesting tidbits, but one that stuck out was him calling out the lack of holding calls being called against Michigan opponents this season when blocking the defensive line.
As much as the defensive line dominated Nebraska, with 33 pressures on 41 drop backs, there should have been more sacks, or at least a few costly holding penalties after Nebraska offensive lineman were draped all over Michigan defenders, even nearly jumping on their back at times.
Sherrone Moore calls out lack of holding penalties
Yet, there wasn't a single holding call, which is the maybe the most surprising thing about Saturday's game. On Monday, Moore didn't hold back in his criticism of the officals, calling it like it is.
"We're getting tackled. You can say that. Yeah, we are getting tackled a lot," Moore said via The Michigan Insider. "I think we got away with some holds, too. So if they're just not going to call it on both sides, then they're letting us play. That's cool. But if you're going to call one or the other, then that becomes a problem. But if it's, 'Hey, we're going to let you guys hold, we're going to let you guys hold, we're going to let you guys play,' okay, cool. Let's play. But when it becomes one-sided, then it becomes an issue."
