Ryan Day might have won a national championship but he still can't beat Michigan.
The Ohio State head coach will get another shot in November. But Michigan football fans might be interested to know that we have officially reached the five-year anniversary of Day making the claim that he would "hang 100" on Michigan in their next meeting.
#OTD 5 years ago, Ryan Day promised to “hang 100” on Michigan… since then:

Ryan Day's words come back to bite him against Michigan football
Day said this to Jim Harbaugh during a conference call between coaches. Harbaugh suggested that Day wasn't following rules, to which Day fired back that Ohio State would "hang 100" on Michigan in their next matchup.
The two teams have played four times since then. Day's squad still hasn't hit 100 points. In four games against Michigan football since that comment, the Buckeyes scored a combined 84 points, which is an average of 21 points per game.
You have to give them credit, the Buckeyes score more than most teams do against Michigan. However, 21 points is only 21 percent of 100, if anyone from Ohio struggles with math.
The number that's even better for the Wolverines is 4-0. That's their record against Day and Ohio State since he made those comments.
Maybe that pushed Michigan to take the rivalry more seriously. Before that, Harbaugh took the treat it as another game approach, which clearly didn't work.
Then, it was "beat Ohio or die trying."
Michigan has outscored the Buckeyes 130-84 over the past four games. Ohio State has held the lead in the second half for all of 2:45 over the past four years. They haven't led the Wolverines in the fourth quarter of a game since 2019.
Michigan's run of dominance won't continue forever. But it is worth asking, will Ohio State finally reach 100 points against Michigan in 2025? Over the last five games, of course.
As it stands, the Buckeyes are still 16 points away from the 100 they were supposed to hang on Michigan back in 2021.
