There might be concerns about the size of Michigan football EDGE defender Josaiah Stewart, but in a few years, the Rams won't be worried about that at all.
Stewart, who became the fifth Michigan football player selected in the 2025 NFL draft, in the third round by the Los Angeles Rams, is a demon off the edge.
The pass-rush specialist played two seasons for Coastal Carolina before transferring to Michigan football for the past two seasons. In four college seasons, Stewart was credited with 30 sacks, including 14 over the past two seasons for the Michigan Wolverines.
Stewart also had 22 tackles for loss the past two seasons. For his career, Stewart, had 150 tackles and 48 tackles for loss. Even though he's undersized at 6-foot-1, 249 pounds, Stewart is a better run defender than he's given credit for.
Stewart holds up well on the edge and frankly, he's one of the best pass rushers in the entire NFL draft. I'm shocked that he didn't come off the board earlier. At times earlier this season, I thought he was going to find his way into the second round, maybe even the first.
Stewart had a great week at the Senior Bowl. Beyond that, he's a great guy to have in your locker room. He's also got the quick-twitch around the EDGE that can cause havoc.
Stewart might never be an every-down player in the NFL. But he doesn't need to be. He's the definition of a pass-rush specialist and as long as he can get to the quarterback, he'll be in the league for a long time to come.
