Semaj Morgan came to Michigan football in 2023 and earned playing time during his freshman season. To appear in 15 games for a team loaded with veteran talent speaks volumes about a player's work ethic and skill set. Winning a national championship during your first year on campus for a team that went undefeated is a rare occurrence. Morgan made some highlight reel plays in his first season. His first collegiate catch went for 35 yards versus UNLV; he also broke a run for 44 yards and a touchdown versus Purdue. When he split through defenders on an 87-yard punt return versus Iowa, athleticism and agility were on display.

In 2024, Morgan can improve in all aspects of his game. The best thing about freshmen is that they become sophomores. Experience is the best teacher; learning from your mistakes increases your productivity and elevates your football IQ. In his second season playing for Michigan football, he will know when to use his speed burst and how to improvise his route tree.

Exploiting man and zone coverage will become a daily routine. His field vision and awareness will increase because he has grown within the offensive system. Being placed in the slot will give him more opportunities to exploit different areas of the field. Donovan Edwards will command seven or eight players in the box on defense to disrupt the flow of the running game.

Colestand Loveland will receive attention because he is one of the best tight ends in the nation. Many NFL scouts believe he is a first-round lock in the 2025 NFL draft. Loveland was also the second-leading receiver for yards last season. With defenses focusing on two elite-level players, single-man coverages will open up all across the field. Even in a run-heavy system with a new signal caller, Morgan can stretch the field with his speed. Never underestimate the versatility that he possesses. A player of this caliber can catch tosses or pitches in the running game and make explosive plays.
