After an ugly loss to Nebraska on Saturday, the Michigan basketball team is back on the road against 14th-ranked Illinois.

The Wolverines will be without Dug McDaniel once again as he serves another game in his six-game road suspension. Michigan basketball did beat a ranked Wisconsin team last week, but that was at home, with McDaniel on the floor.

This Michigan basketball team is one that lacks depth and talent. That problem is exacerbated when McDaniel isn't on the floor. At one point on Saturday, Michigan was outscored 29-3 by Nebraska before rallying to only lose by 20.

Illinois has Terrance Shannon and frankly, a bunch of other talented pieces. At home, the Fighting Illini are as good as any team in the Big Ten. This could get ugly but here's how to watch, the odds, and a prediction for Michigan basketball vs. Illinois.

Michigan basketball vs. Illinois odds

According to DraftKings Michigan basketball is a 16-point underdog against Illinois on Tuesday night. The over/under is 154.5 and the money line is +950 for Michigan and -1650 for Illinois.

Michigan basketball vs Illinois predictions

Illinois has a top-20 offense in terms of point-per-possession while the Wolverines rank 348th in defensive points per possession. It's hard to see that changing on the road against a superior team.

Michigan wasn't able to beat Illinois when it was loaded with talent, even when it won the Big Ten championship. So I don't see the Wolverines winning tonight or covering the spread.

It's probably going to be another low point.

Prediction: Illinois 89, Michigan 64
