My favorite wins all time vs each Michigan football rivals

The season is right around the corner and the Wolverines are getting hot on the recruiting trail. A recent recruiting win over Notre Dame prompted me to think of my favorite wins on the field all time against the Irish, Buckeyes and Sparty.

2. 2007 vs. Michigan State

Michigan football went on the road to Spartan Stadium during week 10 of the 2007 season. Michigan was ranked No. 12 and they were on a seven-game winning streak coming into the game. Although it was a disappointing start to the season for the Wolverines, there was tons of optimism about how they had been playing the previous two months.

Michigan State was in the middle of a mediocre season sitting at 5-4 going into the game. However, as the old saying goes... you can throw out the record books when these two teams get together. Michigan took an early 14-3 lead but the Spartans answered with 21 straight points to take a 24-14 lead. They held this lead with 6:53 left to go in the game. Chad Henne found Greg Matthews with a beautiful throw on a wheel route to cut the lead to 24-21. The defense made a stop and Michigan got the ball back with about four minutes to go.

Chad Henne led the offense down the field until the drive stalled at the 31-yard line. 3rd and 12 with the game on the line for the Wolverines. The next play will forever live in Michigan football history. Henne dropped back and hit super Mario Manningham in the corner of the end zone for a 31-yard touchdown catch. I can still remember to this day standing up in my living room and going crazy after he scored. The defense stopped the Michigan State offense on their final drive of the game. Michigan football won and the mantra of Little Brother was invented. What a game for the Wolverines. State Champions!
