Minnesota Vikings win the NFL draft by selecting QB J.J. McCarthy

J.J. McCarthy went 10th overall in the 2024 NFL draft and the Michigan football quarterback is going to be the steal of the draft.

A bunch of teams that needed quarterbacks passed on Michigan football quarterback J.J. McCarthy and in a few years, they will come to regret it.

The New England Patriots, New York Giants, and Atlanta Falcons all passed or selected other quarterbacks when they could have taken McCarthy. The Vikings, who acquired a second first-round pick just in case, didn't need to use it.

They did move up one spot, to No. 10, to select the Michigan football legend and it was the perfect selection for the team and the quarterback.

Instead of going to be a rebuilding team, McCarthy goes to one with Justin Jefferson, Jordan Addison, Aaron Jones at running back, and T.J. Hockenson. Minnesota desperately needed a quarterback and they got a steal in McCarthy.

McCarthy can do more than he showed with Michigan football

The first thing I hear from McCarthy critics is that he didn't have to throw very much or that he only was good because of the Michigan football offensive line.

That's a total joke. Ohio State has tons of elite talent and you didn't hear that used to downgrade C.J. Stroud. McCarthy can make every throw. He can make every throw Caleb Williams can make, except he doesn't turn the ball over and he's much-better athlete than he's given credit for.

McCarthy is the most pro-ready prospect in this draft and he's going to a team that's ready to win. The defense needs some work but McCarthy is finally going to get to air it out next season and I think he'll easily throw for 3,500 yards and close to 30 touchdowns.

I wouldn't be shocked at all if he's Rookie of the Year and if the Vikings win the division. They certainly won the NFL draft on Thursday.
