For the Michigan football fans hoping that five-star quarterback Dante Moore would decide to come to Ann Arbor, disappointment came again on Monday.

Moore, the former five-star recruit from Detroit, pledged to Oregon -- a program he committed to during the 2023 cycle before flipping his commitment to UCLA.

There were rumblings that the Michigan Wolverines would be a contender for Moore. However, it didn't seem like Michigan football made a serious push.

Of course, it's hard for the Michigan Wolverines to navigate the transfer portal at the quarterback position because we don't know if J.J. McCarthy will be back. McCarthy said he hasn't even thought about the NFL draft yet and is only focused on Alabama, so U-M will just have to cross that bridge when it gets to it.

The Michigan Wolverines are expected to sign Jadyn Davis who is ranked 93rd overall according to the 247 Sports composite rankings. Davis has dropped a little in the rankings, but he's a big-time quarterback and could compete for playing time next season if McCarthy doesn't return.

Alex Orji is also a name to watch. He's drawn praise for his play during Rose Bowl practices mimicking Jalen Milroe. The transfer portal could also be an option down the road, but for now, the quarterback conversation will have to wait until the season is over.

Michigan football targeting Domani Jackson in the transfer portal

Former five-star cornerback Domani Jackson has also entered the transfer portal. Jackson was nearly a Michigan Wolverines signee back in the 2022 class and is very tight with Will Johnson.

Obviously, the decision to come play for Michigan football has worked out pretty well for Johnson and the two are still close friends. That should make the Michigan Wolverines a contender. Alabama is also expected to be in the mix, but the Wolverines are targeting Jackson according to The Wolverine.com.

It's hard not to get excited thinking about the possibility of a Will Johnson-Domani Jackson cornerback pairing. You never know what will happen in the portal, but I feel like the Wolverines have at least a 50/50 shot here and it could be even higher than that.
