Michigan Wolverines news: Another NCAA leak, plus a 2025 decommitment

The NCAA has leaked about the Michigan football investigation once again, plus more Michigan Wolverines news.

It would be nice if the NCAA could follow its own rules, such as the policy on not talking about ongoing investigations. For some reason, when it comes to Michigan football, the NCAA loves to go against its own rules to leak stuff to Pete Thamel of ESPN.

Pete Thamel and Dan Murphy of ESPN reported on Sunday that they had seen that draft of allegations for Michigan football regarding the sign-stealing investigation. The big revelation was that Sherrone Moore, current Michigan football head coach, deleted 52 texts between himself and Connor Stalions.

However, the texts were recovered and turned over to compliance offers, also according to the ESPN report (not headline worthy). And since we know the NCAA is trying to make the Michigan Wolverines look bad, if there was any sign-stealing related stuff in those texts, we would know.

That seems like a safe assumption. There are some minor recruiting violations, but the idea that Moore would be suspended is lunacy. Murphy also noted that no evidence in the draft suggested that any Michigan football coaches knew or directed the scheme.

Michigan Wolverines lose a key 2025 commitment

I was hoping that the Michigan Wolverines would be able to keep three-star wideout Phillip Wright in the 2025 class, but the Louisiana prospect has decommitted and is likely going to LSU.

The Tigers have been pushing for Wright since his commitment and it's hard to blame them. The kid is dynamic and runs the 100-meter dash in 10.46 seconds. I couldn't understand why LSU wasn't on him earlier.

Ron Bellamy did a great job recruiting him, but the pull of LSU was too much. The good news for Michigan football is that Andrew Marsh has set a decision date for later this month and all of the expert projections are pointing to Michigan for the top-100 wideout.
