Sherrone Moore is working on building his Michigan football staff and there is still plenty of work to do on that front.

Moore still needs an offensive and defensive coordinator and one name came off the board that was mentioned as a possible candidate on Tuesday. Yet, when Moore said he would be aggressive on the recruiting trail, he wasn't lying and is trying to poach a key staff member away from Notre Dame.

This is according to a report from Sam Webb of the Michigan Insider. The Notre Dame staff member is recruiting director Chad Bowden. Moore wants to hire him for a position in the Michigan football department as a general manager who would oversee the operation including NIL.

Surely, it's going to take a big pay raise to lure him away from Marcus Freeman and Notre Dame. The ploy might not work, but it's a good sign to see Moore being proactive and this the kind of hire the Wolverines need to make to ramp up their recruiting operation, which needs to be modernized.

This is one to keep an eye on.

Former Michigan football player could return as tight ends coach

With Grant Newsome moving from tight ends coach to offensive line, it leaves an opening at the tight end position which should be attractive to outside candidates with Colston Loveland back in the fold.

Koger had 59 career receptions for the Wolverines including 23 for 244 yars and four touchdowns in 2011. Michigan football beat Ohio State that season on its way to winning the Sugar Bowl and finishing 11-2.

Koger went on to coach in the NFL and has spent the past three seasons as the tight ends coach for the Chargers. According to Webb, Koger is a top target for Moore as tight end coach. I love his ties to the program; landing former NFL coaches is always a plus for recruiting and development.

Koger might prefer to stay in the NFL which is probably the biggest threat to Michigan football, but this would be another a smart hire by Moore if he ends up making it.
