Michigan football solidifies commitments with flip candidates in 2025

Two Michigan football commitments, Nate Marshall and Bobby Kanka, took visits to other programs recently but re-affirmed their commitments this weekend to the Wolverines.

It was a busy weekend for Michigan football on the recruiting trail. The Wolverines have landed four commitments since Sunday, however, there was even more good news to come out of the latest official visit weekend.

Coming into the weekend, one of the questions was whether the Wolverines could lock things down with Nate Marshall and also Bobby Kanka, two defensive line commitments who had taken visits to other programs.

Marshall was flirting with Auburn. The top-50 D-Line recruit (No. 41 overall) who is 6-foot-4, 265 pounds, said it was "close" between the tigers and Wolverines two weeks ago.

However, after his official visit to Ann Arbor this past weekend, he told Brice Marich of The Michigan Insider, "I'm a Michigan man."

It feels like the commitment of Jaylen Williams, another four-star defensive lineman, helped solidify things and the visit knocked it out of the park. Michigan football should be able to hold onto Marshall's commitment now, which is a huge win.

In-state commitment is "solid" after push by Sparty

There's also similar news with Kanka. The 6-foot-4, 285-pound defensive line prospect from Howell, Michigan, recently visited Michigan State. The Spartans have been trying to flip Kanka but so was Tennessee.

The Wolverines were able to get him on campus for a visit instead of the Vols and it seems like the Wolverines have done what's necessary to keep the fourth-ranked player in the state of Michigan in the 2025 class, home.

Kanka is ranked No. 389 overall according to the 247 Sports composite rankings and said this weekend solidified his commitment according to Marich of The Michigan Insider:

"I'm solid. This weekend I wanted to see how the staff really was in person and they checked all my boxes. No, I do not plan on visiting other schools."
