One of the top recruits for Michigan football in the 2025 class is four-star cornerback Shamari Earls. The South Carolina commitment is a 6-foot-2, 180-pound prospect out of Virginia who is ranked 102nd overall according to the 247 Sports composite rankings.

Earls has been committed to the Gamecocks since April. However, it feels like it will be tough for them to hold his commitment. Not only is Michigan football making a push for Earls who is ranked 11th among cornerbacks in 2025 but Georgia is too.

The Wolverines have lost plenty of cornerbacks to Georgia over the years. Hopefully, Earls isn't next but at the very least, he seemed to enjoy his visit to Ann Arbor. He told EJ Holland of the Wolverine it was "amazing."

Visit has Michigan in position for a flip

"They set the bar high," Earls said to Holland. That's all I can say. I really enjoyed it. They set the bar high."

Earls is among my personal favorites for the 2025 class. He's got great ball skills with 10 pass breakups and five interceptions over the past two seasons. In addition to that, he's a track athlete. He runs the 100 in sub-11 seconds. His size with that speed are things you can't coach.

Lamar Morgan has been working hard as his primary recruiter. Getting him on campus for a visit was key. South Carolina has hosted him twice and Georgia will get him to Athens for an official visit this weekend.

There has been talk of improved NIL and Michigan has landed two top-100 commitments this month, but going against an SEC power like Georgia will be a test of that.
