Michigan football vs. Sun Belt Conference

The Sun Belt Conference has the most teams Michigan has not faced with 13, but that number will be dropping to 12 teams this year with the Wolverines facing Arkansas State in Week 3.

James Madison Dukes: James Madison joined the FBS in 2022 so there needs to be time to get on Michigan's schedule.

Coastal Carolina Chanticleers: Coastal Carolina only started playing football in 2003 and joined the FBS in 2017. Give it time and these two schools could face off.

Old Dominion Monarchs: Again, the Monarchs only started playing football in 2009 and joined the FBS in 2015. Especially playing in Virginia, Michigan could wants a matchup soon.

Georgia State Panthers: Georgia State played their first football game in 2008 and joined the FBS in 2013. There is some distance between these schools, but a matchup is not completely out of the question.

Georgia Southern Eagles: Georgia Southern started playing football in 1924, but they only joined the FBS in 2014 so give this matchup some time to develop.

Marshall Thundering Herb: This one is an interesting one as Marshall has been playing footbal since 1895 and has been in the FBS in 1962. It doesn't make a lot of sense that a team only a couple states away would never show up on Michigan's schedule. Maybe a matchup will happen soon.

Troy Trojans: The Trojans have been playing football since 1909 but have only been in the FBS since 2001. These teams are a little far away to play each other, but a matchup is not impossible.

Texas State Bobcats: Texas State has only been in the FBS since 2012, but based on proximity, this probably won't be a matchup that will be seen anytime soon unless it happens in a bowl game.

South Alabama Jaguars: South Alabama started playing football in 2009 and joined the FBS three years later. Just like Troy, this matchup isn't impossible, but probably not likely anytime soon.

Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns: The Ragin' Cajuns joined the FBS in 1973. with having a little more success lately, a post season matchup could become more likely with the Playoff expanding.

Southern Miss Golden Eagles: The Golden Eagles entered the FBS in 1963, a matchup just simply has not happened yet, but is not off the table.

UL Monroe Warhawks: Being in the FBS since 1975, proximity is the most likely reason these two teams have not met yet.
