The first road trip of the year is going to be a good litmus test of where Michigan football stands as it enters its bye week.

3. No disputed calls from the refs

This is something that neither program can control, but the usual crowd was out last week following the onside kick penalty on Minnesota. An argument can be made that the Gophers were not offsides, but the play was not reviewable and therefore history. The last thing anyone wants is to win like that, but that can be blamed on Michigan football for nearly giving the game away in the first place.

Another call that changed the outlook of the Minnesota win was the Mason Graham hands to the face penalty. Graham was called for it on fourth and 11 and gave Minnesota a pulse. If not for that call, then Michigan probably wins a lot more comfortably then just three points. Michigan knows they have to play a clean, disciplined game and let the penalties dictate themselves.

A purple out is expected and the Wolverines have not experienced that before. Last year the Huskies had it for the Oregon game which came down to the wire, much like this one has all the makings of doing too. Michigan fans are being called upon to wear maize to combat it and stand out amongst all the purple.
