Michigan Football: 3 takeaways from a National Championship win
By Nick Popio
3. Team 144 will forever live in eternity
The last two years of despair brought Michigan football back for this monumental moment. They said they would be back and they delivered on their lofty promise. They can now claim their 12th national title in program history and first outright in 76 arduous years. Whether this is Michigan's greatest team ever is a raging debate that will be determined another time.
One can say that this run started in September of 2021 when they beat Washington by 21, which was the same result in Monday's finale. Blake Corum had 171 yards that night and finishes his career with 300 yards and five touchdowns over the Huskies in two matchups. The first win started the revolution and Monday's win gave them a once in a lifetime national championship moment.
Corum also scored a touchdown in all 15 games this season and will go down as one of the greatest running backs in history. A celebration of epic proportions will commence when it is announced. Then Jim Harbaugh, J.J. McCarthy, Donovan Edwards, Junior Colson, Rod Moore, and other Michigan football legends will have a decision to make on whether to come back and repeat.
