Things have gone from bad to worse for Michigan basketball in recent weeks. Since the Iowa game, as well as the reporting of the off-court drama between Juwan Howard and Jon Sanderson, the wheels have fallen off for the Wolverines.

Michigan basketball has dropped two straight games at home. So maybe the good news is that the Wolverines are playing on the road today. They'll be playing on a neutral floor of sorts as they will take on the Nittany Lions at The Palestra.

Phil Martelli is going to love playing at the "Cathedral of College Basketball" but we'll see if the Wolverines are up to the challenge against Penn State.

Michigan basketball vs. Penn State odds

Both teams have struggled recently. Michigan basketball is 3-8 in its last 11 games, while Penn State is 3-7. That being said, the Wolverines are a 3.5-point favorite according to DraftKings. The over/under is 153.5, while the money line hasn't been offered for this game.

Michigan basketball vs. Penn State prediction

It's hard to have any faith in this Michigan basketball team right now. The Wolverines are the more talented team and Penn State is ranked 117th in the Kenpom rankings, which is the worst in the Big Ten. Michigan basketball is 63rd despite its 6-8 record, which is a reminder of just how poorly the Wolverines have performed record-wise. They shouldn't be 6-8. But what's new?

The Juwan Howard hot seat talking is picking up for real now. Michigan dropped two buy games at home this season, in addition to losing as a touchdown favorite earlier this week.

It's gut check time. Yet, it has been for weeks and this team just doesn't seem to have what it takes. The culture feels broken and this doesn't feel like a team. Maybe they'll solve their issues and win this game by double digits.

Instead, it will be an ugly shootout. But the Wolverines have the talent to win as long as they avoid turning the ball over 20 times.
