Things have gotten so bad with Michigan basketball that opposing teams are routinely subbing out their starters with a few minutes left in the game.

The Wolverines trailed by five points at halftime. They were still in the game in the second half before a 20-2 run that was defined by terrible offense by Michigan and poor effort. Not from everyone, but the defense was atrocious. Ohio State made 10 of its first 13 shots in the second half and a tight game turned into a blowout in no time.

It doesn't help that Michigan basketball has one shot creator. But that's a roster construction problem and one that was glaring before the season started. It also doesn't help when guys who make positive contributions are yanked, while the ones who make the same mistakes are rewarded with more playing time.

Michigan basketball clinched its first last place finish in the Big Ten in 57 years and here are the gut reactions from another embarrassing loss on the road.

Gut reactions to Michigan loss to Ohio State

  • Ohio State played harder. No question about it.
  • The talent gap with the rest of the Big Ten is glaring. It's scary that it got to this point.
  • You can't win games with one guy creating shots and also taking way too many.
  • Way too much dribbling and standing around on offense. The passing is terrible too.
  • It's hard to have any hope for the future right now. The bottom has fallen out completely. The best news is that there's only two more games left in this miserable season.
