Not getting drafted isn't the worst thing in the world. Sometimes, all a player needs is a chance. That was certainly the case with former Michigan football star Braiden McGregor.

The former in-state recruit suffered a knee injury during his senior season of high school which delayed success a bit in his college career. But in 2022, McGregor became a regular for the Wolverines and declared for the NFL draft after the 2023 season.

The 6-foot-6, 267-pounder had nine tackles for loss last season, seven quarterback hurries, and 4.5 sacks. He was dominant in the Rose Bowl and it was stunning when he didn't get drafted.

Braiden McGregor earned a Jets roster spot

Yet, McGregor went to work with the Jets. He had two sacks last Sunday. He also had another solid outing where he was able to generate some pressure. In the end, the Jets wound up keeping McGregor on their 53-man roster.

Some Michigan football players who did get drafted, didn't make their original team. Cornelius Johnson was cut by the Chargers. Michael Barrett has also been traded.

These are just some of the things that happen when its roster cutdown time. Jaylen Harrell is another guy who I expect to be on an NFL roster. Harrell was a seventh-round pick but had multiple sacks in a recent game and should be getting strong consideration.

Karsen Barnhart is another rookie and former Michigan football player who was released, but remember, these guys can be signed by other teams. They can also be put on the practice squad.

So there will be plenty of Michigan football players in the league once again and you can add Braiden McGregor to the list.
