We have more clarity on the Michigan football coaching staff as Mike Hart is away for "personal reasons", plus a new graduate assistant.

New Michigan football head coach Sherrone Moore has been busy building up this coaching staff. He even added to it on Monday by adding defensive coordinator Wink Martindale's right-hand man, Kevin Wilkins, as a defensive analyst.

That was a really smart move, especially considering Wilkins has nine years of NFL experience and knows the defensive scheme Michigan football will use extremely well. It's the same system the Wolverines have been running under Jesse Minter and Mike Macdonald.

However, we got more clarity on the coaching staff on Monday as Josh Henschke of Rivals reported that running backs coach Mike Hart is away from the program for "personal reasons." There weren't any other details and there don't need to be. Hopefully, whatever is going on with Coach Hart will be resolved soon and we wish him the absolute best.

The wording of the report makes it seem that Hart will return to Michigan football when he's ready. We can only hope for the best.

Former Michigan football player added a graduate assistant

Brad Hawkins, who was a starter on the 2021 Michigan football, is going to return to the Michigan Wolverines as a graduate assistant. He had 178 tackles in his Wolverines career which lasted from 2017-2021. He was remembered for a huge fumble forced near the end of the Nebraska game in 2021, which sealed the win for the Wolverines.

Hawkins was signed by the NFL as a rookie free agent and spent some time with the New England Patriots. Now, he'll be back in Ann Arbor next season as a graduate assistant to Sherrone Moore.
