Former Michigan basketball star traded to Detroit Pistons

Former Michigan basketball player Tim Hardaway Jr. has been traded to the Detroit Pistons.

Michigan basketball fans will get a chance to see a former Wolverines star up close and personal this season. All they will have to do is make the trip to Detroit as Tim Hardaway Jr., a former U-M hooper has been traded from the Dallas Mavericks to the Detroit Pistons.

The trade happened a couple of days ago. The Mavericks are fresh off a trip to the NBA finals where they were defeated by the Boston Celtics in five games. Hardaway Jr., for some reason, didn't get to play much in the first three games, all losses by the Mavs.

In Game 4, Hardaway was activated and made five 3-pointers, helping Dallas get its only win in the Finals. Dallas traded Hardaway and three second-round picks to the Pistons for Quentin Grimes according to ESPN. Hardaway is due $16.2 million next season, the final year of a four-year, $75 million deal.

The former Michigan basketball standout who was part of the 2012 team that shared the Big Ten regular-season championship, as well as the 2013 team that advanced to the Final Four and the national championship game under former head coach John Beilein.

Hardaway was the Sixth man for the Mavericks last season, averaging 14.4 points per game. Hardaway has played 12 seasons in the NBA with 345 career starts. In 11 of those seasons, the former Michigan basketball star has averaged double figures in scoring 11 times. He averages 14 points per game for his career with 1,676 3-point field goals to his credit.
