The suspension in place that kept Michigan basketball point guard Dug McDaniel from playing and traveling on the road has been lifted according to a release from the University of Michigan on Tuesday.

McDaniel served a six-game suspension for road games only. Michigan basketball struggled during those games posting an 0-6 record, but things haven't been much better at home. The Wolverines are 8-20 overall and 3-14 in the Big Ten.

They are guaranteed to play on the first day of the Big Ten tournament for the first time, but at least Dug will be back for the road games against Rutgers and Ohio State, as well as the home finale against MSU.

This also means that Michigan basketball will have McDaniel for the Big Ten tournament so at least they'll be full strength.

“Dug is making good progress and has done what we’ve asked him to do to this point,” Howard said in a statement via the Wolverine. “With that being said, he will be rejoining the team on the road. We have appreciated his efforts and those who have been supporting him.”

Michigan women's basketball with a golden opportunity

According to the most recent women's basketball bracketology, Michigan basketball is among the last four teams to get a bye in the Women's NCAA Tournament.

That means the Wolverines are among the last seven or eight teams in the tournament. But, they are traveling to Columbus to take on second-ranked Ohio State (24-3, 15-1) tonight, and if Michigan women's basketball was able to pull off the upset, their NCAA tournament ticket would be punched.

Laila Phelia will lead the way for the Wolverines (17-11, 8-8). She's fresh off a near triple-double in Michigan's win over Northwestern last weekend. Tip-off is set for 7:00 PM EST on Peacock.
