CFB Analyst: Assuming Michigan football will fall off is 'a little bit lazy'

Michigan football won't be as good as it was in 2023, but the idea that the Wolverines will fall off a cliff is "lazy" according to one analyst.

Michigan football will have its work cut out for it to win another national championship in 2024. The Wolverines lost their head coach to the NFL along with 13 players who were drafted, including first-round quarterback J.J. McCarthy.

The Wolverines also have a brutal schedule that includes two College Football Playoff teams from last season in Texas and Washington, as well as Oregon and Ohio State.

Sherrone Moore seems up to the task though. Michigan football will have to keep reyling on its ability to develop players though but that's one reason why JD Pickell, a college football analyst for On3.com says that people shouldn't assume that the Wolverines will "fall off a cliff."

Thinking Michigan football will fall off a cliff is "lazy"

“Michigan has prided itself on being a developmental program," Pickell said earlier this week. "It might not always be in that top five when it comes to recruiting rankings on signing day, but what Jim Harbaugh has done over the course of his time there is take guys that they are excited about physically and also competitive-makeup-wise and mold them and develop them into being stars when it’s their time to play on Saturday.

“The assumption that Michigan is just gonna fall off the face of the planet, I think is a little bit lazy because of what I just said."

Michigan football has some questions to answer, especially on the offensive side of the ball. We don't know who the quarterback will be, plus the Wolverines lost 10 starters on offense. But the offensive will be just fine under Sherrone Moore. It will be better than fine actually.

I'm betting that Michigan football will have one of the best offensive lines in the Big Ten again, as well as the best defensive line, which is a solid formula for winning games right there. So Pickell is right, it's "lazy" to sleep on the Wolverines going into this season and hopefully, some rivals are doing that.
