It's been a busy 10 days or so since Dusty May has been hired as Michigan basketball head coach. Going into Thursday though, May had just one player committed to the Wolverines for the 2024-25 season.

That was 2024 signee Durral Brooks, who confirmed his commitment last week. That was important. But so was the return of Will Tschetter, which the 6-foot-8 forward announced on social media.

This makes a ton of sense for both sides. Tschetter averaged just over six points per game last season in just 17 minutes. He shot 51.9 percent from 3-point range and 62 percent on his 2-point attempts.

Tschetter needs to become a better rebounder. Yet, his biggest issue is fouls. He averaged 2.9 last season in 17 minutes which makes it tough to play you more than that. He's got to learn to defend without giving up cheap fouls. But if he can do that, he should be a deadly in Dusty May's system.

May wants to shoot 3-pointers and Tschetter's specialty is shooting. If he can play 25 minutes a night, I could easily see him scoring 10 points a game. I always wondered how good Tschetter could have been under John Beilein and now we'll find out because May and his system are the closest thing to coach Beilein. Tschetter is about to take off. He's also got two years of eligibility.

Dusty May should want as many multi-year players as possible committed for the next season so he can truly build something. You want instant impact guys like Johnell Davis too, but you don't want to be searching for 6-8 players in the portal next year too.
