Big Ten power rankings. . . . . 486. . . . 11

Michigan State struggled in 2023 and was not the team college football has seen in the past going 4-8, tied for worst in the conference, and 2-7 in Big Ten play.

The Spartans have been hit hard by the portal in the spring window losing 18 players, the most of any team in the Big Ten. However, they did bring in four players from the portal, which doesn't balance out, but it is bette than nothing.

After a down year, the Spartans could be more competitive than they were in 2024, but they are still middle of the pack, which explains this ranking.
