Michigan football has an offensive identity centered around running the football. Elite offensive line play has been a huge part of that.

Michigan won the Joe Moore Award in 2021 and 2021. In 2023, the Wolverines offensive line was good enough, despite some major injuries, to lead U-M to a national championship.

The downside is that Michigan lost its top six offensive linemen from last season. However, the cupboard isn't bare as we have talked about numerous times this offseason.

Most of the starting positions are spoken for. Myles Hinton will start at left tackle, while Giovanni El-Hadi and Josh Priebe are certain starters too. Many thought Greg Crippen was going to be set in stone at center but Raheem Anderson has been making a push.

That's a competition to watch at the center position. Yet, according to Sam Webb of The Michigan Insider, there is another battle to watch and that's at tackle. Or rather, there is a new name to know at offensive tackle for the 2024 season.

That's Evan Link. He was a 2023 signee and one of the most underrated. Link created some positive buzz this spring and now he could be pushing for a starting job at right tackle along with Andrew Gentry and Jeffrey Persi.

Webb reported, that according to one source, Link has been the most impressive of the three. He was ranked No. 267 overall in the 2023 class and is 6-foot-6, 328 pounds. One report doesn't mean Link is going to win the starting job, but it's promising just to hear about his positive development.

That player development has been key to three straight Big Ten championships and if Link winds up winning the starting job, he'll have earned it.
