Michigan basketball head coach Dusty May has been so busy recruiting, it's hard to keep up. Whether it's new 2024 recruits like Justin Pippen -- Scottie Pippen's son -- or transfer portal contacts/targets popping up, it can make your head spin.

It's sure exciting though. May is doing everything he can to rebuild this roster and I'm feeling optimistic already. Of course, it's true that Michigan basketball hasn't landed a single transfer yet, although it feels like a commitment is coming soon from Vlad Goldin.

However, there is going to be another exciting transfer portal prospect on campus this weekend and that's Trey Townsend of Oakland who was the Horizon Player of the Year last season. Townsend averaged 17 points and eight rebounds last season. He also shot 37 percent from 3-point range. His career 3-point percentage is 31 but that's due to one season where the numbers really dropped off.

Joe Tipton from On3.com is reporting that Townsend will take a visit to Michigan basketball this weekend. Danny Wolf and Vlad Goldin are also expected to visit, along with Justin Pippen, a three-star combo guard according to the 247 Sports composite rankings.

Townsend scored 47 points in two NCAA tournament games for Oakland. The fact that he averaged 3.1 assists per game is also impressive and makes him a great fit for May's system. Townsend would have a clear starting spot if joined the Wolverines.

Michigan basketball felt like it was the favorite for Danny May, but now, May is expected to visit North Carolina next weekend, so who knows. This weekend is critical for the Wolverines but it also offers a lot of exciting possibilities.
