Aidan Hutchinson was one of the Michigan football standouts in Week 2 of the NFL season.

Straight up, former Michigan football legend Aidan Hutchinson might be the best pass rusher in the NFL.

After notching a bunch of pressures and a sack last week against the Rams, the former Heisman Trophy runner-up for Michigan football took his game to an entirely new level on Sunday, sacking Baker Mayfield of the Bucs 4.5 times on Saturday.

Unfortunately, it didn't lead to a Lions win as they fell 20-16. Still, it was an epic performance and had me thinking he was going to make a run at the Derrick Thomas record of seven sacks.

Other former Michigan football NFL standouts

Hutch is usually good for a highlight or two, but he wasn't the only former Michigan football player who had a good day on Sunday. The Vikings improved to 2-0 and got a huge assist from Josh Metellus.

The Wolverine intercepted Brock Purdy as the Vikings defeated San Franciso for the second straight season. Mike Danna, another former Wolverine, has been a steady presence on the defensive front for the Chiefs the past few seasons and he had a big strip sack on Sunday that led to a defensive TD.

Jake Moody also made a field goal in the 49ers loss to the Vikings. The second-year kicker drilled seven field goals in the Week 1 win over over the Jets.

Another U-M alum to keep an eye on is Nico Collins. The wideout signed a big contract this offseason and opened the 2024 campaign with six receptions for 117 yards. Houston will take on Chicago tonight and we'll see if Collins find the end zone for the first time in 2024.
