5 predictions for Michigan football vs. Washington in the CFP National Championship
After the wait for the Rose Bowl, the College Football Playoff National Championship game has arrived in what feels like the blink of an eye.
We are still one day away, but Michigan football and Washington are in Houston and we are closing in on kickoff. Jim Harbaugh and Kalen DeBoer met the media on Sunday for what I believe will be the final time. All the focus is now on the Wolverines and Huskies and that 7:45 PM EST kickoff.
it's a legacy game for both sides, but there's a finality to it from a Michigan football perspective. This team feels like a team of destiny. However, the Huskies could say that too, and looking ahead to Monday night, here are five predictions and a score for Michigan vs. Washington.
J.J. McCarthy's finest hour
I like this matchup for the Michigan offense. But I really like it for J.J. McCarthy. The Wolverines are going to run the ball and test that Washington defense. Eventually, the Huskies will put more people in the box and that's when McCarthy will make them pay.
We didn't see much from the tight ends against Alabama, but that will change on Monday night. Colston Loveland and A.J. Barner will both make multiple receptions in the national title game. I also think McCarthy has another game with around 250 total yards and 2-3 touchdowns. It will be the Rose Bowl, but cleaner and it will be one of the best games he's played as a Wolverine.
McCarthy is almost always at his best when his best is needed (see the fourth-quarter TD drive) and I believe we'll see J.J. at his best on Monday night.
