Michigan football will get four sacks, plus an interception

Quinn Ewers is a projected first-round pick for a reason. But the Michigan football defense was designed with quarterbacks like him in mind.

The Wolverines will need to contain the running game and firgure out how to solve the RPO that Texas loves to run plus all the screens. Tackling will be essential and Will Johnson needs to be at his best.

It will be interesting to see what Wink Martindale does this week. He blitzed on 57 percent on the downs last week, which seems high with the D-line as deep as it is. Mason Graham, Kenneth Grant, Rayshaun Benny, Derrick Moore, and Josaiah Stewart need to dominate.

I think they will but the Texas offensive line is really good. However, Wink knows how to confuse pro-level quarterbacks. Texas will create some chunk plays but I think the defensive line makes the Horns one-dimensional and Ewers gets hit a bunch, at least enough to help negate the ridiculous talent at wide receiver.

I also think Will Johnson gets his hands on another interception.

Michigan football vs. Texas score prediction

This is a tough one to predict but I think Michigan football, especially the offense, will be better than it showed last week.

A loss to Texas wouldn't surprise me. But it's not easy to win in the Big House and Justin Fields led Ohio State in 2019 was the last team to do it with fans in the stands.

I see Michigan starting fast. The running game will get some of the kinks worked out and a trick play helps U-M get the lead. Then, the defense helps add to it and Dominic Zvada hits three field goals in what ends up as a win in what feels a lot like the 2023 edition of 'The Game.'

Prediction: Michigan 23, Texas 20
