He builds the right way for Michigan

The Wolverines aren't an NIL powerhouse right now. If they were, Hunter Dickinson wouldn't have bolted for Kansas after this season. Things are surely improving on that front. We have seen that in football and Michigan probably doesn't get May without more resources devoted to NIL.

That being said, May invested in high school recruiting while at FAU. There were some transfer additions but the team he took to the Final Four was recruited, coached, and developed over multiple years.

After taking that team to the Final Four, Florida Atlantic returned 12 players. That's almost unheard of in college basketball and May certainly had something to do with that.

May has never had a losing season. The Owls also improved their winning percentage every season but the last one, and part of that is moving to a new league. Some might think Dusty May is "mid" but his roster-building philosophy should work well at Michigan.
