Defense will win the way

Michigan football could have the best defense in college football again. It's April 19th and the Wolverines still haven't lost any players to the transfer portal this spring, well at least none that were expected to start or be on the two-deep.

If a guy was going to transfer, playing in a spring game and risking injury doesn't make sense. So I don't see a bunch of players leaving after the spring game. You never know, but it seems like the mass exodus rival fans were promsiing or hoping for won't happen.

With Mason Graham and Kenneth Grant, the defensive line should be fun to watch. Derrick Moore is going to be a man amongst boys too this year. However, I want to see how the secondary holds up. Will Johnson and Makari Paige are known commodities. Quentin Johnson is too. But Zeke Berry, Ja'Den McBurrws, Jyare Hill, and DJ Waller all need to step up.

I'm excited to see how those guys play and who goes the nickel reps on both teams. I also want to see the depth at all three levels. You can make a case to add players from the portal at linebacker, defensive line, and the secondary, but we might feel better about all those spots after Saturday.
