3 predictions for Michigan football offense in 2024
Michigan football leads the Big Ten in rushing
Last season, the Wolverines led the Big Ten in rushing yards and touchdowns. They were also second in the conference in yards per rushing attempt at 4.5.
Michigan graduated Blake Corum, who is one of the best running backs in program history. The offensive line also graduated some stalwarts some last season.
However, as have talked about many times, the offensive line is going to be just fine. There are a few NFL players among that group and even more are developing.
You also could have a true running threat at quarterback for Michigan football for the first time in a long time. J.J. McCarthy could run and ran when he really needed to, but the Wolverines didn't design a lot of runs for him, even like they did for Orji at the end of the season.
If Orji can make the correct reads though, he and Donovan Edwards could be tough to stop. It will be hard for the defenses to focus on either. Plus, Kalel Mullings is good enough to start for most Big Ten teams, while freshamn Jordan Marshall could have an early impact too.
Regardless, Michigan should lead the Big Ten in rushing yards again and I wouldn't be surprised if the Wolverines actually rushed for more total yards in 2024.
