After signing the No. 6 recruiting class in 2025, Michigan football is aiming even higher in the 2026 class, and with an NIL war chest to tap into, the Wolverines should have plenty of success.
In terms of the running back position, Michigan football is already among the favorites to land five-star running back Savion Hiter. He's set to take an official visit to Ann Arbor this summer and won't be the only elite 2026 running back to do so.
Javian Osborne, a 5-foot-10, 190-pound running back out of Forney, Texas, who is ranked 58th overall in the 2026 class according to the 247 Sports composite rankings, will also visit Michigan football this summer.
Hiter is ranked 17th overall in the 2026 class according to the 247 Sports composite rankings. Osborne isn't far behind. Texas has the crystal ball lead right now, but this official visit shows that the Michigan Wolverines continue to be serious contenders too.
Michigan football fans like the new Ohio State DC hire
Ohio State landed its new defensive coordinator this week -- former Detroit Lions head coach and long-time New England Patriots assistant Matt Patricia.
Patricia did a terrible job with the Eagles during the 2023 season and was fired. He also hasn't found much success since his disaterous tenure in Detroit, which also ended up with him getting fired.
His time with the Lions is the reason most Michigan football fans despise him. However, Michigan Wolverines fans, in general, don't seem to mind this move because they think it will be bad for Ohio State and they aren't alone. Some national analysts such as JD Pickell of On3.com aren't big fans.
My problem with Ohio State snagging Matt Patricia as their DC isn't that it's a "bad" hire. It's that I question if it makes the key 10% difference to repeat as national champshttps://t.co/druysVdaya pic.twitter.com/L7kiTxzzOu

Honestly, I don't think it's as bad as some art making it out to be. Patricia helped the Patriots win two Super Bowl titles as the defensive coordinator. Things haven't been great since he left New England. But he's had success before and with the talent he'll have at Ohio State, I don't think it's that far-fetched to believe he'll find success.
We'll see. Ohio State fans mocked Mike Macdonald and Jesse Minter. How did that turn out?
Kim Barnes Arico sets Michigan basketball win record
Kim Barnes Arico has done an incredible job with the Michigan women's basketball program, not only this season but beyond.
Since she was hired before the 2012-13 season, the Michigan Wolverines have only had one season with fewer than 20 wins and that was the season shortened due to COVID-19. U-M still went 16-6 and advanced to the NCAA tournament, something they will do in seven straight seasons (outside of when the NCAA tournament was canceled) if they keep trending the way they are this season.
On Wednesday, Michigan women's basketball beat Indiana, 70-67, to get the fourth straight win. It was also the 279th for Barnes Arico, which passed John Beilein for the most wins by a Michigan basketball head coach.
Jordan Hobbs went off in the win for Michigan, scoring 24 points and connecting on 10-of-13 shots from the field. The Wolverines are 18-7 and 9-5 in the Big Ten, just a half-game behind three teams for fourth place. Ohio State is sitting in third place at 9-3.
